When I Have a GOOD Shopping Experience

Some time ago I went to Wet Seal and made out like a bandit. (I don't remember if I mentioned this at that time.) I finally found pictures of the two major purchases-well, that are main parts of outfits. I also bought two pairs of black leggings, some tanks, a olive greed sweater, a short sleeve cropped bomber jacket, a purple plaid pea coat and a black pea coat with ruffles at the hips.

During the trip, my mom was helping me, letting me know how things looked. While I was trying things on, there was two girls trying on things in the room next to me. My mom saw a couple of the things they had tried on, liked them, showed them to me...and one thing led to another and I ended up buying a few of the things they had tried on!!

Below are two of those items!

This top is actually lacy (see through) so I wear it over one a Wet Seal tank top--they are so long they go past my backside. With leggings and a pair of ballet flats...Super Cute!

When I wore this on campus, a had a black guy tell his friend (as I walked by) "Look at that sexy chick." Yeah, I felt good! ;-)
This dress if FANTABULOUS!! I love it! The black solid panels are actually ruched. When I first saw it I thought that they panels would make my hips look wider...but they don't! The whole outfit has a slightly futuristic feel to it...and it's awesome!!! (I wear it with a colored tank under it, black leggings, and gray jersey boots--the boots are a similar shape to UGGs but are totally different materials.

I can't wait to go back and see what I can find as they get new stuff in.

My weeks have been super crazy with holidays and family stuff...please be patient with me as I try to get back on a schedule.

Highlights:
I got a 99% on my second Cultural Anthropology test.

I got a 92% on tonite's Criminal Law test.

I bought a cupcake decorator tube thingy and had fun decorating cupcakes on Saturday.

I had fun dressing up as Cleopatra for Halloween.

I am SUPER far ahead in Keyboarding...we're talking...COMPLETELY DONE!! I am starting on work for Keyboarding II...and as long as I get the same teacher...she'll accept the work next semester! SO COOL!

Ok that's all for now...and I need to go do bed ASAP!

Busy Bee

This last week was straight up craziness!! I haven't had that crazy of a week since I started school!

Monday--Pretty normal day except that I completely finished everything necessary for my Keyboarding 1 class, minus the last two tests. If you wanna know what I am doing about this class--e-mail me, because I am still going to have something to do. ;-)

Tuesday--Business Math class and then I had to take the bus off campus to my chiro appt. and then I had a date. He was a fun guy and I really enjoyed his company. (Of course, then, after a few days of texting, he has suddenly dropped off the face of the earth. Why can't people text you and let you know that they might be MIA for a while for one reason or another, rather than just ignoring me. Story of my life.)

Wednesday--I had school stuff to do before even my first class, then after my 11:00 class I ate lunch and then took a couple buses to get over to the city library where I picked up a few books--ok, 7--and then got a burger & fries (and root beer) from a nearby burger joint (and it was actually pretty darn tasty), then back to campus for my Cultural Anthropolgy test. Waiting, patiently, until next Wednesday to get my score.

Thursday--11:00 class, lunch, then I had to wait until 5 for my next class. What did I do? Checked out the new paperback/reading room. (http://www.shastacollege.edu/library/) I sat in there reading for the next 4.5 hours. I literally read one Harlequin Intrigue novel and started another. It was so relaxing in there...except for it being cold when I had my jacket off but then sometimes feeling too warm with my jacket on. Weird.

Friday--just cleaning up my room.

Saturday--worked on painting my Lollipop Ring Toss board for the Harvest Festival at my church. I finally feel like I have the chance to breath...and I am bored out of my mind!!

Why is it that I LIKE to stay busy?

I have been trying for ages to explain these shoes to y'all...and I finally found a pic! My pair are old so they are not at nice looking (they have a slight dingy tint that I don't know how to clean because they are canvas but have sequins--don't know if I could really throw them in the wash.)

Well, I found the pic via e-bay! When I found the pic I found pics of the same shoe in other styles. I knew they had had other styles because when I bought mine many years ago (in FL) I had tried on a pair of black ones and camo ones. Unfortunately, I was a poor college student on a super limited budget and could only get one pair. Being that I had more to match the khaki...I bought those.

However, I always wanted the black ones too!!

And guess what I found on e-bay (not used!) in my size!!!

You got it!! BLACK ONES!!

I was so excited that I called my mom! I just had to have them! But I don't have an e-bay account!! The sweetheart she is, my mom told me to use her account to buy them and I'll just pay her back the $20.

I am super happy!!! It is very hard for me to find shoes so when I find some that fit right...I want them in every color necessary for my wardrobe! HAHA!!!

Now I just need to be patient and wait for them!!

Today's outfit is literally the same idea as yesterday. The difference?

Today's pants and cami are dark heather gray and the henley is a deep brick red with an interesting "wash" to it. (Literally, there are speckles of an orange-y color in the shirt!) I can't even find the name of the color online because they don't have it!! Crazy!!

But this outfit is so dang comfy!! And the color combo is amazing!!

Still on crutches but hopefully by this weekend I will be off them (just still using the brace).

Oh my goodness! It is soooo windy outside!! Mom has this tall bush in a half-barrel planter and the wind knocked it clean over!! It's crazy!!! The wind was also practically bending one of our new trees in half! Mom tied it the opposite direction and we are just praying it stays.

To add to all that...I can barely walk when it's this windy!!!

My outfit of the day...well, it's rather classic...with a twist. Navy tank, khaki shorts, navy w/ white polka dot belt. The twist? Pink jewelry.

Pink is my "signature color". I love it! And with an outfit as neutral as this...I need some more color!!

(Not to mention, it's supposed to be 101 degrees outside today. I am taking a navy cardigan with me though because it does get cold in the buildings sometimes.)

When Life Get's a Lil Crazy...

Holy Monkeys, Batman! It's been a while.

I promise I didn't drop off the face of the planet. I have just been having interesting weeks.

School started some like 6 or 7 weeks ago. I don't know why I haven't posted because school is definately NOT keeping me very busy. I am super far ahead in my keyboarding class. Don't technically need to go to Business Communications class this morning because I turned in the project due at the end of class today...last Wednesday! (Which is good because I have a sprained ankle and am on crutches.)

Yep, I had to go and sprain my ankle. I thought I was on the bottom step of a short set of stairs...turns out, I was a couple above it. Off I stepped and down I went. Was NOT a good way to start the weekend (it happened after my last class on Thursday).

The weather is really making me mad. It's supposed to be autumn and the weather for the next four day? Mon: 103, Tues: 100, Wed: 101, Thurs: 100. SERIOUSLY!!?!!?!?? I hate the heat!!

Hmmm...what else has happened...OH! I had a guy stop and talk to me and ask me for my number. He said he wanted to do something that following weekend. But did he call? Nope. Story of my life.

I do however have a few "classroom friends" and a couple "casual friends".

I have my first Criminal Law test tonight. I am kind of nervous about it but it's hard to study when you don't know what the tests are going to be like yet. HOWEVER! I took my first Cultural Anthropolgy test two Wednesdays ago. The test is all "essay" (not as serious as an essay--you can use lists or even a comic to show what you mean)...and I was super freaked out by that!! But guess what, got my test back last week...and i'd made a 95!! SUPER SWEET!!

Well, despite not going to my first class, I WILL be going to my 2:00 class and then to my 7:00 class. So, I had best get my butt moving. It may only be 9:00 but I am hobbling along and need all the time to get ready...despite the fact that I already know what I am going to wear.

I pre-ordered myself a copy of True Prep a few months ago (while I knew I had the money). I also purchased two other books at the same time: The Little Pink Book of Elegance and What Would Jackie Do?

I have been waiting patiently.

I went to Amazon to see how it's going.

My package is in Sacramento!! That's like 2 hours south of here!! I so wish I could just go there and pick it up!

I am hoping to get it in the mail tomorrow.

If not it will probably arrive Monday...ON MY BIRTHDAY!! How cool would that be!!!

Even Crime Dramas Need A Little Lilly!

My mom and I watch a lot of crime dramas. One of them is called The Closer. I am not gonna take the time to explain the show to you but it's cute. The main character, Brenda Leigh Johnson, is from the south but lives in L.A.

Anyways, I read the "fashion blog" the fashion guy does on the TNT website and just happened to read something about Lilly Pulitzer (one of the guys on last night's episode dressed really preppy) and how a few seasons back, Brenda's mom wore a 1970's Lilly Pulitzer caftan in a couple scenes.

Well, I searched high and low to find y'all a screencap...AND I DID!!

Tuesday To Do

My Tuesday To Do mostly contains HOMEWORK! How NOT exciting. LOL!

Business Comm.--Two part homework. Write two short paragraphs about 2 of the 8 ways to improve active listening. Write 5 sentences using slang words/phrases and then rewrite them using correct grammar. (Due Wed.)

Cultural Anthropolgy--Read Anth. article and do Ethnoquest program thing. (Due Wed.)

Business Math--#1-45 odd problems (Due Thurs.)

Computer Literacy--Read Chapter 1 and take quiz (Due Thurs.)

I also have Criminal Law stuff due next Monday but I have the weekend to work on that.

And I still have to take care of the blankets that are in the wash right now, and do a tiny bit of laundry for myself.

So much to do...

I Made It!

I survived my first week of classes (I don't have Friday classes--that's why I am posting this today). I even have most of my homework done.

I have some teachers I like, and some not so much.

I was very happy to see the few people I know that know that go there...including one guy that I didn't know was going to be there but I knew him (a little).

I even made a couple classroom friends. There's a girl in my keyboarding class, Barbie, who is sweet. We sat next to each other in Wednesday's class and had a blast. She kept getting "mad" at me for doing really well and we kept laughing at how the program was giving her soooo many problems but was working fine for me. It was silly!

There's a girl in my math class that talked to me the first day and we've sat together the two days. She was sweet and told me I looked like a ballerina (my hair was in a ponytail w/ a ribbon around it and I was wearing khaki shorts, a nice tee and wedge sandals). I thought that was nice of her.

In my Criminal Law class a girl sat next to me and was nice, especially because most of those in that class are parlegal students and have been in classes together before.

I love the campus bookstore and the library. Most of my downtime (and I have a bit of that--4 hr. & 40 min between my two classes on Thursday ) is spent outside on a bench (though if I was so inclined I could actually sit on the grass--couldn't do that on my last college campus) or in the library.

All in all, my first week was decent. All I have left to do for "homework" is to read and do a program thing (I don't know what it is exactly) for Cultural Anthropology and read Chp. 1 and take the quizz online for my computer literacy class.

And I still have until Wednesday nite for the anthropology class and Thursday (my second class that day) for the computer class.

Makin New Friends

Back when I was living in our previous town I was pretty much a loner. Not by choice, I just didn't have friends.

Well, Facebook has connected me to a few people from my former town.

I added Jacob as a friend, just to follow him and see what is going on with him. Then one day he IMed me. It was really random because pretty much no one IM's me!

We've been talking back and forth a little. What's really funny is that we never spoke to each other in school (before I left the public school). But when I asked him why he decided to IM me he said that even though he never talked to me (he was a pretty solitary person in HS) he always thought I was a good person. Sweet! :-)

He is in the Marine Corps and is currently in Alabama doing some class stuff to get ready for being deployed to Afghanistan in September. HOWEVER, he will be in this area for 2 weeks before being deployed and we have made tentative plans to hang out before he is deployed. (Well, we are most likely gonna hang out...just don't have specific plans or date yet.)

I am excited...he is the first person from that period of my life that has reached out to re-connect. Now I have a second reason to look forward to September (besides my birthday--which is funny because he deploys the day after my birthday!)

I Prefer Fall

I am really NOT a fan of summer. I hate the heat, the skimply clothes, the chance of sunburn...it's all icky. I get headaches too easily from the sun.

I love Fall however. It is my best friend. I'm able to wear layers and my new found favorite piece of clothing: cardigans. I just love them! (Ok, not all cardigans but you know what I mean!)

I went to a couple websites and found some cardis that I am in love with. (I put the name of the store under each but didn't want to confuse myself by trying to link or remember names/prices of each piece. But each I found by going to women's apparel, clicking on sweaters-and then cardigans if it gave that choice.)

Twice the Fun

While getting all my stuff together to go back to school I decided that I wanted to use a pencil pouch. It would make transferring things between backpacks/totes (I own about 5 backpacks, borrowed another one from my mom and have 3-4 other bags I can use for school--I change based on the number of books that need to be carried and my outfit) sooooo much easier. Well had a Victoria's Secret pouch that I have used before but when it came down to it, I just had more stuff than would fit in it! So I went a hunting and found a second pouch that I LOVE. (And back-to-school stuff wasn't even out yet! I'm impatient sometimes.)

I have this pouch but in pink. Like a dark bubblegum pink.

This is the second pouch I bought. I bought it at Barnes and Noble. I love the dots!!

So, my VS one carries my highlighters, my flashdrive (see below--mine's only 2GB tho), various smaller Post-its, paper clips, a mini ruler and my pink staples.

The B&N pouch carries all my pens & pencils, plus my pencil sharpener. I am rough on mechanical pencils so I tend to use more regular pencils. (BIC Atlantis Mechanical Pencils are the ONLY ones I have found that I don't kill after a week.)

I've got one month until school starts. Can't wait!

1010 Challenge--Not So Good

I'm going to have to stop my 1010 (or is it 101010?) Reading Challenge. I'm having problems getting into books for some of the categories. This is not good. So instead of forcing myself to read something I'm not interested in, I'm just going to forgo trying to finish it. I will leave the list as is so it can still be accessed, but no more additions.

I will still be doing the Fantasy Challenge. I think I am only 3-4 books away from 10 so that one's all good.

I will keep updating the "Other Books" list so you can see what I have read.

Now to go find a book that I KNOW I will be able to get into.

Next Trip...

So I got my train tickets for my trip to my aunt's. I will be gone June 23rd-Aug.4 (well, I arrive at like 3 am on the 5th). They don't have internet access really so I will be incommunicado. LOL!

We will be GOING to Farmer's Markets but this season has been slow and their fruit just isn't big enough to pick and sell yet.

However, the Mid-State Fair will be going on while I am there and we're going to try to go. My aunt also wants to take me to some waterpark thing or swimming at this big pool where they used to live.

I have already worked on my packing list and have realized that I am taking a lot of dress/skirts.

Of course I need to double check how the weather's been. I do know she said it gets down into the 50's at night. (It gets into the low 70's if we're lucky here.)

Week and a half 'til I am off on a trip again!

I Have a Crazy Sibling

So my dear younger brother gave out my cell number a couple days ago to a guy he's befriended. This guy ("a big black guy"--my bro's description) is new to the town I used to live in (and my bro still lives in with his family) and the town isn't super friendly to anyone who isn't white or Native American. According to my bro, this guy never goes out except at nite and usually just to my bro's video store and doesn't have any friends really.

I get a phone call at about 9pm from a number I don't recognize. Thinking it's gonna be a wrong number I answer (because I get a number of calls for a "Holly" and because I don't have a voicemail I need to tell them "wrong number" or they keep calling) but it's not a wrong number and I don't recognize the voice. I tell my mom and she gets my bro on her cell just to check.

Still a shock! He was nice...though definately could tell he was kind of shy. He was worried about calling back at an inconvient time. I told him, if I can't talk, I don't answer the phone but I usually try to call back if I see who it is.

It was still a random call! (He said he'd had the number for 2-3 days just to get up the courage to call!)

Trips, Summer Vacation, School...STRESS

This weekend--quick trip to Fresno to visit my grandma and see cousins.

July 21st-Aug 3 (or so...dates still being decided)--trip to San Miguel (by train! YAY!) to stay with the above cousins to visit and go to their Farmer's Markets. (And pick asian pears that they sell. I am not a fan of the selling part--but I like to pick the fruit!)

Aug 16--school starts.

I am mostly ready for school to start. I just need to find a pencil pouch, a new day planner that I like (I have one but it ends in December and then new ones always start in June or July...STUPID!) and I have one more textbook set to buy (they say that it should be in stock in two weeks). I might also need a calculator for my business math class and I am slightly bummed that the one this girl who already took it said she had to have doesn't come in pink. :-( I saw a pink scientific one at Target. It's not a graphing calculator but it's not your basic calculator. (I only have basic ones.) I did get my schedule laminated

I am rather OCD about being completely ready for trips and events and such. My backpack is pretty much packed with the textbooks needed for my first day. I have a list of what I need to take for this weekend. I am almost done with the list for what I will be taking on my other trip in a couple weeks.

Of course, then my room is a disaster area which is stressing me out but I'm at a stand still with getting things ready. AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Add to this that I need to have Missions Moments presentation ready for the 18th...but I'm also going to be in the nursery on the 18th. And I have to buy those books when they are in stock but then I have to pick them up within two weeks (but I will be gone!) or they will be taken back.

*Sigh* I need a personal assistant or something. LOL. Actually not really because I'm not a big fan of bossing people around. LOL!!

Oh well, it will work itself out somehow!

Schoolbooks!

I am super excited about going back to school!

I am registered for the fall and my schedule is all set. I will be taking 6 classes. (Click on pic below to see my slightly schizo schedule...but I like it.) This means I had EIGHT books to purchase. Slightly freaked me out when I saw prices...but I searched and searched and here's how I did...so far.

1 book I am borrowing from a friend. She already took the class and she couldn't sell them back because they were the newest edition and the college had already taken back soooo many. I am gonna get the set so I will have the book for the following class too!

4 books I got used through Amazon. I paid about $136.50. Total if I had bought them through the school? $291! I saved over $150!!

Then another one of my books was up for auction on E-bay. I decided to go for it (I had put the next best price in my Amazon cart just in case I didn't win) and placed a bid. Stressed myself out waiting for the auction to close. (I literally was staring at the computer screen for the last 5 minutes, refreshing every 30-60 seconds!) Then it closed...AND I HAD WON!! My first time bidding and I won!! I did a little dance in the living room I was so happy! I saved $25 from the next cheapest book online (the one that had been in my Amazon cart) and saved $89 from buying it from the school!

I have two "books" left to get but I am going to get them through the school. One is some sort of computer program so I want to make sure it is in working order. The other is a set of books for my computer class and I wanted to make sure I got the right edition, complete with any supplementals necessary! I am having to wait to purchase until the books are in stock though. They aren't in yet so I am just trying to be patient. (Hard because I like to be ready ahead of time--ex. whenever we go on trips I am usually packed a week ahead of time!)

My backpacks/bags are out of storage & pens/pencils/highlighters are set aside. Planning to use notebooks/folders instead of binders because my schedule is a little wonky for heavy binders. I have a few ready but I am planning to go my first week with just an old folder and notebook that way I can feel out the classes and figure out if I am going to need a ton of paper or not (will I need a lot for a computer or keyboarding class?? *shrug*).

I already know that I am using my Lilly Pulitzer notebook for my legal and anthropolgy classes. I split it in half using a Post-it for a top tab. Super excited about using that notebook too!! :-D

However, the other day I realized that there is NO DRESS CODE for the school...so I will probably be one of the best dressed students because I am not going to let everything hang out like I saw the couple days I went there to take care of things. Since it will still be warm when school starts (August 16th) I can still wear shorts and summery skirts/dresses.

Super excited! Come on August! LOL!

I Am Going Back to School

I am super excited! I am going back to college to get a second Associate degree, this time in Office Administration Professional. I'm already registered for my classes and now just trying to figure out the textbook situation.

Last day of my temp job was Wednesday.

OH! So Tuesday was a FABULOUS day for me...especially because I met a guy!

I was sitting, reading, on one of the couches by our mall's food court (waiting for Mom to pick me up) when this cute guy approached me and asked me what I was reading. I told him and he introduced himself and asked if he could sit with me. Of course I said YES! Then during our little conversation he asked me when the last time was that I went on a good date. We then exchanged numbers. He called me Wednesday evening and we set up plans to go out Thursday. Our date? Bike riding! I love being outdoors and this was right up my alley. He was even super sweet when I couldn't do the major hills. We had a fabulous time...despite biking farther than we were supposed to (we biked about 12 miles when it should have only been like 8--cuz we missed our turn for the bridge). We then got some food, visited with his friends and made plans to come back for the Lakers/Celtics game. We went to a gun/pawn shop and killed some time.

The funniest thing to me is the height difference: I'm 5'5"...he's 6'6"!!!

Pluses:
+ He's educated--He went to Brown University for his undergrad and then went on to another college (I can't remember the name) for his masters.
+ He likes to read.
+ He wants to teach and he likes to coach sports.
+ He is very considerate. On our ride there was a really bad downhill "S" area. I wasn't ready for it...and almost crashed! Literally it was very freaky. And he was really worried when he realized how bad of a time it was for me. My pedal hit my ankle and when we got to a flat spot he squatted down to make sure I was ok.
+ He is sweet. During our lunch/dinner I caught him staring at me. I asked him why and he said it was because he just liked looking at me because I'm pretty. :-D

2 Things...

1. I just read The Trouble With J.J. by Tami Hoag. It's a funny romance book. Not normally my type but I wanted something light to read after Robinson Crusoe and this totally helped.

Now I wanted to share two great lines from it that totally made me smile.

"She wasn't tall and svelte with a cover girl face like the models he'd dated in the past, but she was damn-darn adorable, from her twenties-style haircut right down to her preppy penny loafers."

When I first read that line all I could think was, "Did I seriously find a book with a preppy main character?" Super excited. Most of the books I read are with detectives and they live in uniforms/jeans/not-so-preppy clothes.

"She had shown up at his kitchen door at eight A.M. sharp, dressed in navy walking shorts, a pink oxford-cloth shirt, and big tortoiseshell reading glasses that made her eyes look impossibly large and guileless. She'd had a notebook under one arm and a wicker basket on the other. He guessed this schoolgirl look was intended to cool his ardor. Try again, Genna."

Again, I love the description! Throughout the book it mentioned Genna (the main female character) in polos and blouses and chinos. It made me love her as a main character...especially her looking for Mr. Right as the kind that is a banker or doctor or something like that. Such a great book!

2. I am in charge of decorating the table that my mom (as long as she can come home that weekend) and I will be hosting. The luncheon is a summer "picnic" style so they suggest paperplates and other disposable things. My problem is coming up with a "theme". That and ideas for centerpieces. I am thinking that I should find the plates (since those are hard to find around here--plates that aren't the boring kind you use at home...and that don't say Happy Birthday or have some cartoon character on them) and then go from there.

Luckily, a lady from church, Wendy, will be my "mom" and give me a ride to find the stuff. She is happy to do it...which actually helps her too because she's hosting a table and needs to find stuff too.

Right now though, I need to go out to the storage shed to find the tub with our luncheon stuff to see what we have in there.

I have discovered that I am a very boring person to take "out".

We went to this place called Need 2 Speed. It's mainly a go-kart place. I hate anything to do with driving. So we were gonna play mini-golf. We had to wait so we played pool--I won. :-)

The mini-golf place blacklight and non-A/C'd. By the third hole I had a headache from trying to see the dips and hills on the courses and I was sweating to death. Didn't help that I STINK at mini-golf (tho I did get a hole-in-one on the 17th hole--it took Justin 5 hits to sink his ball LOL!).

Then Justin did a go-kart race (he had a free one). The seats to sit on where the same things used to create the course so they were not very comfy.

I do not really like seeing movies which is usually a thing people do to hang out/go out.

I do like to eat however...

And I love amusement parks. We have a fun center in the area that has bumper boats which I love...and a rock climbing wall which I really wanna do! I did mention that to Justin in the hopes that maybe we can hang out again and that would be a better idea (plus I think their prices are better than the Need 2 Speed place).

I'm Not Normal

I have come to realize how abnormal I am compared to everyone else I know.

I have a constant abundance of pent-up energy and no outlet. My brain doesn't work like others...I will be thinking about/doing something and suddenly say or do something completely random. Example: I went walking with 5 co-workers from work. I already felt out of place because I'm only a temp person and they've known each other for some time. It was a nice walk, felt good (dispite the heat), but I was wanting to GO GO GO! So, by the time we got to the building, where I knew they were gonna take the elevator up ONE floor...I went bolting down the hall to the stairwell...and ran up those too...without saying a word to them. No clue why I did it. Maybe I didn't wanna explain myself? I really don't know.

I really haven't been able to explain why I do things I do...and no one really seems to get me.

I feel so outta the loop of "normalcy"...yet I don't know how to even "act" normal. I try but it gives me a headache and makes me anxious.

So frustrating...

I Have Decided

Next payday (which is actually in a few days!), I am going to Amazon to pre-order this book. (I am thinkin' of buying a couple other books also that I want to OWN copies of like, What Would Jackie Do?) I will have to be patient to actually own it, but the least I can do is buy it while I have the money.

Also, I need to call my credit card Customer Service so they can reset my online account or tell me my username and password or something so that I can get online to pay my bill without having to wait for the paper bill to get here. (Note to self: When you find out your username and password, WRITE IT IN YOUR NOTEBOOK FOR THAT STUFF!!)

Crazy Life

Holy moly it's been a bit since I last wrote.

Other than work not much has gone on but work in itself has been good.

Last week one of the IT guys that comes up to our office (he's also happens to be dating one of the girls) gave me a heads up about some of the personalities in the office. I was glad for that.

I've also been talking and making friends with the youngest guy in the office, J (he's 4 years older than me). He's sweet and cute in that geeky way...but really cute geek. :-)

Most everyone in the office is pretty nice. Except for this one girl that is a little older than me. She was talking to J a lot before I came into the office and now I get a icy feeling off her because I talk to him a lot. Lame much? GOSH! (Not to mention--I had no idea that they were "talking" before I came into the office.)

Anyways, last Friday, right before I got off work (literally like 15 minutes before) I started having blood sugar problems. I was shaky and weak. I have been tested for hypoglycemia but it's always fine...once again, I seem to be a medical mystery. ANYWAYS! My mom was gonna be late and didn't let me know until it was too late to catch the bus, so I figured I would walk (slowly--I wasn't real steady on my feet) the couple blocks to Carl's Jr. to get some food and wait for her. Long story short, one of the younger ladies from the office lives in my area and offered to give me a ride home so I wouldn't have to wait. AND J had a frozen pizza in the fridge he offered me so that I could get some food in my system. He even helped fix it, made sure I was seated ok, and was even ready to get me a glass of water if I needed it. It was so sweet of them--seriously, they've only known me a couple weeks. It just surprised me. My mom was also grateful because she was crazy busy at her work. I ended up buying J a chocolate bar (he LOVES chocolate) as a thank you and wrote the girl a thank you note.

So, other than work, I've just been trying to read a lot. Trying to get some books for the TWO reading challenges that I'm doing read...I feel a little behind.

I'm also looking into furthering my education and going back to school for a second Associate's degree in Legal Assistant. The junior college nearby has one such program and all the classes are evening classes. Literally, each class is almost 3 hours one day a week each! Just getting a little confused and befuddled about financial aid and everything that encompasses it.

Well, other than those few things...things have been going ok. Just trying to keep my head up and stay positive. :-)

So, I have had a craptastic day today.

With this post though, I would like to focus on a few things I absolutely love! (Of course, somehow most end up being food. LOL!!)

Books/Reading of course!!
French fries. I love french fries...especially with "special sauce" or ranch!

Pizza Rolls!! Haven't had them in a while but we just got some this evening! :-D

Campbells Chunk Baked Potato with Cheddar & Bacon Bits soup. This stuff is awesome!!!

Tulips! Such a happy flower!!

Philly Steak and Cheese Hot Pockets. We have to buy the HUGE box because I love them! I even eat them for breakfast sometimes.

Bacon! Yum-o!!

I'd also like to mention that I got the temp county job and am enjoying it. Just pulling and filing files at the moment. But it's a good job and the people are nice--plus there's a cute "nerdy" guy there and he's nice to talk to. :-)

I'm Back...Not That I Was Really Gone

It's been 23 days since I last wrote a post.

Why you may ask?

1) I had nothing to write about.
2) No one really cared that I was gone. Seriously, no one e-mailed or commented asking what was going on. But that's not that big of a deal. I am learning to not write for y'all...but for ME ME ME! Haha!!
3) I have been busy.
4) I have been sick for a little over a week.

I can say though that I am in the process of getting a job with the county. Ok, so the job is just a temp job as "extra help clerk" (seriously, that's the title they had me put on the application) but it's better than nothing at the moment!! The process has been a little kookie...but it's been good. Just waiting for them to call about filling out paperwork since I did my physical/drug test last week (while I was sick haha!).

Yes, I have been sick since a week ago last Tuesday. It was horrid and as my mom put it, "You know she's REALLY sick when she doesn't balk about taking certain medicines." I am not a huge fan of medication. I am actually almost immune to most OTC meds...Tylenol/Aleve/Advil/Motrin/Midol/Excedrin does nothing for any pain of mine. If I take Mucinex DM it makes me high or something like it (seriously, the first and only time I took it, I was walking through the house and stopped but I felt like my body was still moving across the room...NOT GOOD!). I take Mucinex for Kids instead...and just double the dose. Doesn't harm me and tastes halfway decent. Dayquil/Nyquil are AWFUL! I took Dayquil once in the last 6 months or so and it felt like my throat was iced. Everytime I tried to breath it felt like the air was ice cold. It was HORRID!!!!

My reading challenges have been coming along nicely. Some categories are a little behind (as in I haven't read a book for them yet) but I'm working on it. Picked up some books to read from my town's library today.

I did Mission's Moment for my church the first Sunday of this month and am working on next month's presentation. Everyone told me I did good so that was a good confidence boost.

All in all, just trying to stay positive (it's REALLY hard being alone 90% of the day...and when people are home, being relegated to my bedroom) but I'm working on it!

Today's lunch was a chicken & ham sandwich (that I made) and bread & butter pickle chips.

The sandwich included:

Sara Lee Hearty & Delicious Country White made from Whole Grain
Kraft Sandwich Spread. So much more flavor than boring mayo/Miracle Whip

Tomato!

Lettuce. I can't remember what kind we bought but I never use iceberg on my homemade sandwiches.

Hillshire Farms Ultra Thin Smoked Ham Lunchmeat

Hillshire Farms Rotisserie Seasoned Chicken Breast Lunchmeat.

Now I have to say, I'm not a big fan of chicken lunchmeat, but while at the store, I didn't just want to get ham and have a boring ham sandwich. I saw the rotisserie seasoned chicken and thought it sounded good. Lo and behold it's delicious! Seriously, I eat it right out of the container!!! I'm in love! LOL!

Back in College

When I was going to college in Florida there was this girl that was a year or so behind me that I always admired. She was fun loving, slightly crazy (in a good way), had a fabulous sense of style and was really sweet. Unfortunately, she was in the "popular" crowd (yes, we had cliques even at a Christian college) while I was an outsider with no friends (not joking at all). But still whenever I saw her around I had to smile. She had this sense of style that was just so...FUN!

Today I found her on Facebook. We'd only really met once via mutual acquaintences (there was a bunch of us with the same name-various spellings...well, only mine was different-in the same area of tables) but I added her as a friend anyway, and she confirmed the request. Her hubby and her have always been one of the cutest/funnest couples and she hasn't changed. She has a great sense of style--seriously, most of the time she looks like she just stepped out of Vogue or something! But she also knows how to dress "down" but still look amazing!

I totally find people like that inspiring, especially when living in a tiny podunk town where people work in jeans and run errands in their pjs.

OBSESSED!

I have become obsessed with a donut. LOL!

These things are great!! Totally better than the regular powdered ones! The lady that runs Shepherd's Heart brought a box one Tuesday about a month ago and I couldn't stop eating them--no joke! I loved them and when I told her she told me to take the box home (instead of it sitting in the building until the following Tuesday)!! I have then told my mom we needed to buy some more.

Last night, while I was at an evening Bible Study, my mom stopped by Holiday Market (the ONLY grocery store in this town--little pricey but I love that they have some organic stuff). I got home and about an hour later went into the kitchen to get a snack (hadn't had a very big dinner) and when I saw those little donuts...

I was surprised to say the least. Seriously, the only thing she was going there for (or so I thought) was milk and hot dog buns!

I have since eaten at least six. I try to be good but I love them so much. Luckily, Kaleb and his family ate some so I am not going to end up eating the whole box. That would definately make me a piggy.

Walking...

The last two days I've gone walking on a trail in a nearby city. (The trails run by part of the Sacramento River so it's slightly foresty and some cool views.) It's been a blast dispite the age difference--I mean, she has a son and daughter around my age--he's older by a bit, she's younger by about a year! But it feels good to be able to get out and do something like that.

I also started working out with Tony Horton's Power 90 DVD set. I've only done it once (b/c Thursday & today I was walking) and I'm starting out on Level 1-2...but I have to say, Tony Horton is AWESOME!! I so enjoy his enthusiasm, encouragment, and hilarity. I mean, the guy sings while saying some things. LOL!

Other than that, just been reading; trying to work on reading challenges. :-)

I don't know how many of you have noticed my Yahoo! avatar to the right but ever so often I change it. After looking at all the different backgrounds and clothing options today I am going to start goofing around with my avatar. Right now she's a modern girl in front of a tree. Next time I change it...who knows? There could be a different theme! But I'm not going to keep it as "ME" all the time...I'm gonna have fun! Who knows...she could be a Victorian lady playing croquet or a scubadiver! Just keep your eye out for the fun "trip" my avatar will be taking ever so often...all by changing clothes and the background!

Movie Costumes

So I can't copy these pics to show them to you but I had to share them anyway. I watched "500 Days of Summer" the other night and I LOVED most of Zooey Deschanel's characters outfits. Review: GHOST STORY by Peter Straub

(I'm still getting used to writing book reviews so bare with me--but this was one book I actually had thoughts on.)

Ghost Story Description:

In life, not every sin goes unpunished.

GHOST STORY

For four aging me in the terror-stricken town of Milburn, New York, an act inadvertantly carried out in their youth has come back to haunt them. Now they are about to learn what happens to those who believe they can bury the past--and get away with murder.

My Thoughts:

I thought they book was well-written in itself. The story is intriguing. The problem I had was with how it was told. It would jump back and forth between the different main characters. Luckily it told you who it was going to be about but it still made it confusing occasionally. The story also went along slowly. There were good spots where I didn't want to put it down but there's were more spots where it was kind of difficult to keep my head into staying with the story.

It was also easy to see some things in the story that I really wished the characters would deduce...mainly about someone's name/initials (trying not to spoil it!). It was slightly difficult to keep reading when I knew something that it didn't seem any of the characters had a CLUE about.

Probably the best part of the book (besides the end LOL!) was the fact that a minor teenage character in the beginning and middle of the book was made into a major character at the end. I enjoyed the advancement of that one character--he was pivotal to the saving of the town!

All in all I'd give this book a 3 out of 5 stars. It was very well written and I think others (that like the style of the story) would enjoy it too. I did like the story very much, just struggled to follow it sometimes.

I Need To Get This Off My Chest

This post may seem pretty depressing to most of you...and some may think I'm being over-dramatic...but this is the honest to goodness truth in my life. Even my family can't figure it out.

I am the most unluckiest person. (Maybe because I was born on Friday the 13th? Haha.)

I have no honest-to-goodness friends. Sure I have people who say they are my friend but they never really take the time to call me, spend time with me or anything. I am ALWAYS the one trying to reach out and I get nothing in return. (The sorta exception is my ex Nick. We are still friends but that's a different type of friendship because of our past.) I have absolutely no girls that are my friends (outside of my sister-in-law but 1. She's family and 2. She has a family of her own to spend time with).

I have a hard time even keeping a guy around. It's like I'm too boring or something. I'm just being myself and no one sticks around. Nick stuck around the longest (and even then I had to end it--difference in beliefs made it impossible for it to be long-lasting).

I can't keep a job longer than 4 months...and that was a SUMMER job! I can't find work either.

I get up everyday and my day consists of eating, playing on Facebook, reading blogs/tweets, reading and playing with our dogs. On Tuesday mornings I have Shepherd's Heart to go to and church on Sundays. Outside of that, if Mom & I have no errands to run that week, I never leave the house except to get the mail.

My life is the epitome of boring.

You're probably thinking, "Britt, we really don't need to know this" or "This is a lame post" but I had to explain my situation...especially to those who follow me on Twitter and read my tweets when I'm really down. I have no one to take an interest in my life (outside of family) and I never do anything except sit around at home.

That is my life...and it's killing me.

I Write Better W/ Lists

It's been a crazy week since I last posted. Things that have gone on:

1. Finally got over being sick though I am still sleeping horribly. I get 8 hours but still wake up feeling like "yuck".

2. Last Friday I went to see Sherlock Holmes (loved it!) with a guy. Didn't click on my end but the next night I got a text from him in which he called me "cutie" and told me he'd been thinking about me all day. My mom agreed with me that this was slightly uncomfortable...especially since before that movie we'd only messaged on Myspace (a lot), texted a handful of times and talked on the phone 3 times. (He DID meet my parents before we went to the movie.)

3. I have a lot more going on with church now...for the most part. I am the church librarian so I have to keep that organized. I am the training coordinator for Shepherd's Heart (the food bank at the church). This job required me to create a manual...which was rather time consuming and tough. My biggest problem was trying to think of everything that needed to be put in it! I am also going to be doing Mission Moments for one church service per month every couple of months or so. This will require me to get make a powerpoint using information from the missionaries that we sponsor. The powerpoint will include the things that have been going on in their ministry, their prayer needs and a wishlist. Should be interesting. The last thing that I've gotten involved with is the Women's Christian Fellowship group. You may remember the spring lunch & Christmas dinners I've posted about in the past in which Mom and I would host/decorate a table. Quartly, the WCF hosts some sort of gathering for the women to fellowship. I have become the youngest "member" which is good because they need a younger voice. (No joke, everyone else is 50+)

4. Saturday I have a written exam for a city job. Kind of nervous because a TON of people probably applied. On Saturday though Mom will be dropping me off at the Holiday Inn the exam will be held at (at 9am!) and then I will get to tool around Redding on my own. Of course, it's supposed to rain Saturday so I will be making sure to have my umbrella (and maybe a hat)! After the exam I am thinking of going to Wendy's for lunch, Bibles Books & More (a Christian book store), to the city library, maybe to Kohl's, Barnes & Noble and the mall. Not sure yet. With the exception of the library, all those places are either a short #11 bus ride from the Holiday Inn or a short walk (the Christian bookstore is a short walk, Wendy's a little farther). Should be a fun day! Just need to figure out what to wear that is nice enough but conducive to cold/rainy weather. Won't be able to wear my rain boots because I would need to have TWO bags just so I could take them off (they are not very comfortable for wearing while shopping).

5. Tomorrow (Thursday) and Friday are the only two days we are supposed to have a break from the rain. According to weather.com's 10 day forecast, it's supposed to rain from Saturday until who knows when (it only shows me through next Thursday). I'm hoping Saturday will just be a misty rain...that would be better for walking in that torrential downpour!

6. Random silly fun fact: 8 months from today I will be a quarter of a century years old! LOL!

7. My reading has been slow this month. Part of the problem is that I have been having health issues that make it difficult to read. Also doesn't help that the book I am reading right now (part of Sue Grafton's ABC series) is kinda slow so it is hard to get into. I am hoping, however, to get some more of it read today...hopefully I can finish it by Saturday so I can take a different book with me that day (I always bring a book w/ me if there is any chance of a time where I will just be sitting, such as on the bus or while eating).

Well, I really need breakfast!

Out With the Old...

Since 2009 is over, so is my 2009 100+ book list. I'm going to leave it up for a little while longer so those who would like can see what I read in 2009.

But now I have TWO challenges to work on for 2010-- 1010 Category Reading Challenge and the Fantasy Reading Challenge. There are links to the lists for those to the right.

I've been sick/busy recently so it has been a while since I posted.

I didn't necessarily make any New Years Resolutions though there are things I want to do differently in 2010.

1. Obviously, eat more healthily and try work out (the second half is hard when there's no gym in my town, my room is rather small and using the living room would require me to workout in the middle of the day. But this is also my mother's "resolution" so that should help.

2. To try to stop worrying about every little thing. I say try because this will be hard but is something I need to work on.

3. To look my best even if I'm just chillin' at home or working on random stuff at the church. Never know who will stop by. Of course, right now with my being sick--not caring. LOL!

4. To just keep on reading. Not a hard one. :-)

5. To read my Bible everyday. Of course, I need a plan to do this effectively and am not finding one. Very annoying! But I'm going to keep looking!

6. To be a mystery. Ok, so that might sound funny but I learned about if from The Millionaire Matchmaker. See, I have this bad habit of spilling everything about myself to any random guy that takes interest. Bad me! So I'm gonna work on holding things back. He doesn't need to know about the skeletons in my closet until it's ABSOLUTELY necessary!

That's pretty much it. Should be interesting to see how it goes.

Well, need to go take care of some laundry!

Bringing in the New Year the Right Way

My favorite way to bring in a new year is by reading.

Kristen at Bookworming in the 21st Century has 'created' two fun ideas. I, of course, am doing both.

The first is a Read-a-Thon. You can read more about the idea and "rules" HERE.

For the Read-A-Thon I have no idea how many hours I want to read. Not having a job, I can read a lot. But I am hoping to get at least 3 books done--preferably ones for challenges. :-)

Argh, UGH, Grr...

I had my first real boyfriend when I was a sophomore in college. He was a freshman named Howard. I seriously liked him but he 'dumped' me because at the time he didn't know what he wanted in life.

Ok...

I just found out that he's married now. Hasn't been married for very long...but married none-the-less.

And I'm not.

This is seriously depressing. I would like to be married before I'm 30. I've got 6 years before then.

Pens...

Most Monday nights are Women's Craft Night at my church. For the most part my craft that I do is decorating pens. Below are a couple examples of my "designs".

Now, I've made quite a number of these pens and am going to sell them to try to help raise money for the church library--which I run.

My problem is trying to figure out how to make a catalog. Don't really have any program to use except Microsoft Word...just not sure if that will work. Hmm...why do computers have to be so complicated.

It's been one week (exactly in a few hours) since I was dismissed from my job. It's really frustrating being back unemployed. I was unemployed for over a year and a half, had a job for about 5.5 weeks, and am no unemployed again. What is wrong with this picture?! Grrr!!

A Change...

I have made a change to my 1010 Challenge book list. I am trying to use it to read a lot of the books in my TBR but I can't get through a lot of it with just ONE mystery section...so I created TWO. Ok, that's probably cheating somehow but I need it so it's done! LOL!

Not to mention...I've read 101 books so far in 2009. I finished the last 3/4 of book #100 yesterday and then read book #101 too! Yes, I just might be crazy! LOL

How Much Worse Can It Get?

In the last month I've:

1. Broken up with my boyfriend.

2. Been fired from my job. (Ok, it was done nicely but I'm not unemployed and filing for unemployment is CONFUSING!!)

3. Been in a car that hit a deer--on MY side. Yeah, definately freaked me out. I screamed. Now the passenger door can't open more than 8-10 inches.

4. Just felt like life is in the crapper right now. LOL!

2. I'm currently reading my 100th book for this year, Ill Wind by Rachel Caine.

3. My new job is going ok. The office manager (who is also the Dr.'s wife) is rather rude and harsh but I try to work around that. (If you pray, pray for me because it's ONLY me she 'picks on'.)

4. I need to catch up on Google Reader...maybe I'll do that during lunch.

If you have never read a book by this man, you must. His writing is fantastic. I love the Thursday Next series. It's set in 1985 (my birth year!) but is so "futuristic" it's nuts. The storyline and extras are enough to stretch your imagination to the limit! Mispeling vyruses (anything they come near is miss spell--hands become literal lands!), textual sieves, being able to literally JUMP into a story!

If you like books and like reading, his books are awesome. Thursday Next series and the Nursery Crimes stories both use real characters from other stories (like Humpty Dumpty and Miss Havisham and Captain Nemo...) but create a whole new deminsion.

Seriously, this series is so OUT THERE I can't even describe it...all I know is they are fun.

Review of CURTAIN by Agatha Christie

So in trying to live up with my blog address (bookwormbritt.blogspot) I'm going to attempt my first book review!

I read Curtain by Agatha Christie. I haven't read a lot of Christie and why I came back to it with this one (the last in the Hercule Poirot "series")...it's all because someone else in the blogging world read it and I felt so inclined. LOL!

I am not the HUGEST fan of Poirot. I don't like having parts of the story that I can't read because it's in another language. This story wasn't too bad but it did still irk me. The story itself was good, totally had me guessing the whole way through.

I'm looking forward to getting back into Christie's books...slowly yet surely.

With this new job I'm thinking about looking into getting a cute lunch tote (preferably not too pricey) to carry lunch in. We have a few in our house but they're not very girly and a few are kinda old and slightly stained.

I'm thinking about something that can be monogrammed (preferably with a choice other than just my initials**). It needs to zip close in some way. What I need help with is finding them. I don't have a clue where to look! LOL

Oh, and I'd also like it to be insulated. To keep things cool. :-)

**My first & last initials are BS so monograms always end up looking bad--BSN (first/last/middle). I just don't like it! I can't initial anything without my middle initial or people always say something. So I prefer monograms that are either just one initial or my name.

5. Go to Redding and wait while Mom has her chiro appt. then go to Kohl's.
6. Hope to find something at Kohls.

I think that's it. LOL! Not too exciting but it's something. Oh, and I should probably be reading at some point in there. I COULD do that while waiting at the chiro's office. :-)

It has been crazy-ish around here recently.

Friday and Saturday were the church yard sale...where I messed up my knee just standing up out of a chair.

Sunday was my birthday.

And I've been sick since Monday! I'm better a little. Enough to go fill out a job application later. The job is just a seasonal temp part-time job but at this point it's better than nothing. It's at this place called The Humor Shop. They sell costumes and stuff like that. Right up my alley! I LOVE costumes and dressing up! Maybe that's why I LOVE Halloween! :-)

Something that's on my mind...my blog is sort of random. One day I can just be talking about what's going on, another talking about fashion finds, another talking about books. I want to know if you, my readers, like it that way. Or, does it annoy you that I'm all over the place? I'm just looking for some opinions. :-)

Well, need to continue getting ready to leave the house. Cross your fingers that I get the job!

Birthday Stuffs

My birthday was yesterday and it was kinda an ordinary day...with a few fun spots here and there.

Mom bought me this bouquet of flowers for my birthday. I love all the different flowers. :-)

This bear was a birthday present from a family in my church. I was in a back room with the rest of the worship team getting ready for the morning when the mom popped in and handed me this bear, a fake rose and a card. Her joke was, "You can't be allergic to anything here." (I'm allergic to peppermint and their oldest daughter once bought me something pepperminty as a gift.)

FYI: The bear DOES have two eyes...the fur just likes to cover up the one. :-D

My new cellphone!!! This was my major birthday present from my parents. It's a touch screen like the iPhone but doesn't have all the apps and is way cheaper.

My pearl and I think amethyst bracelet from my Grandma (Dad's mom). REAL pearls and genuine gemstones! It's a wrap-around bracelet. Pretty cool. :-)

Birthday Stuffs

Nick is taking me out to dinner for my birthday tomorrow. (Technically my birthday is Sunday but he's leaving for a family camping reunion on Friday so he won't be here.) I have no idea where we are going; I'm letting him surprise me. I do know that it won't be fast food so I can dress up a little. Now I just have to figure out what to wear. LOL! That's the hard part right now.

I just can't wait to eat my tiramisu cake my mom is getting me for my birthday. It'll be my THIRD birthday cake this year! LOL! My bro and his family came down Saturday and brought a cake (a Hello Kitty one to be exact)--so sweet; my church is having a potluck/birthday recognition and one of the people setting that all up asked me what kind of cake I wanted since it's ON my birthday; and then the tiramisu cake later that day! LOL! So much sugar! (I'll try to have pictures later. I have some from Saturday but they're all on my mom's camera.)

Well, I've had a headache for the last two hours and the three extra strength Tylenol I took those 2 hours ago still hasn't fixed it. UGH!

Can You Make a Suggestion? Or Two?

I just realized that my day planner only goes through the end of this year. (Some go July to July--mine doesn't.) That means that around Christmas I'm going to need a new planner/agenda.

Can you, my darling readers, make any suggestions? I love the Lily Pulitzer ones except they're a little out of my price range. But I like the bright colors. I need one that has weekly without the times. (I don't do enough to have everything according to time!)

10 Essentials

Some time ago I read this post by ECM at Tres Poshe Preppy. For the longest time I've been planning to list Tim Gunn's 10 Essentials as found on that page and show you what I would like to own, if I had the money, for each of those essentials.

1. Basic Black Dress-The basic black dress has been around for a long time. It is often called the "Little Black Dress", and it's true that shorter skirts on the basic black dress, when they hit you in the right place, can be more flattering than a long black dress.

J.Crew- Cotton Cady Sydney Dress in Black $225

2. Trench Coat-The trench coat is one of the pieces that is both classic and currently a hot fashion item. Most any store sells this piece now. It is great for fall and you can pick it up in a wide range of lengths.

Victoria's Secret-Classic Wool Coat $109 (special)

3. Classic Dress Pants-Although it doesn't say black, this is probably what you want to look for. Black is flattering on all figures and goes with everything. (I kinda prefer brown...but black works too. I just happened to find these that I like and they're brown.)

Gap-Hip Slung Yarn-Dyed Flare Pants in Brown $59.50

4. Classic White Shirt-The white shirt is a definite classic. But it can also come in many different styles to make it look trendy and not dated or like a man's piece of clothing. Find one that accentuates your best attributes and minimizes trouble spots. For example, if you have wide shoulders, stay away from large collars.

5. Jeans-Everyone has a pair of jeans, but does everyone have a pair of jeans that make them look great? The wider leg, low-rise jean style has been popular (and still is) but a narrower leg is coming back along with a higher waist, which eliminates the unflattering "muffin top" look. (Unfortunately, those of us with wider hips can't always pull off the narrower leg. And short-torsoed people don't fit into higher waists very well.)

6. All Occassion Top-Find something you look great in that can look respectable under a jacket but bring on the fun after hours.

(I just wish it was in a darker/brighter color.)

7. Skirt-If you need dress pants then you also need a skirt. A skirt is womanly and can be flirty or businesslike. Nowadays women do not wear many skirts or dresses, which makes a lot of them fall into a rut of dressing sloppily or like men. See number 8.

(This skirt may be a little short for business but a little longer and it'd work.)

8. Day Dress-Women also are not wearing as many dresses anymore. It was certainly liberating to go from the '50s when women wore dresses every day to wearing more practical pants for gardening, exercising, and so forth. But the dress does not have to be abandoned altogether. They can be very flattering, and there is nothing wrong with "dressing up" for daytime.

9. Jacket-A jacket does not have to be masculine. Find one with a proper, fitted shape. Women's jackets should follow the silhouette of a woman's body and accent the hourglass curve at her waist. It is also a perfect piece to put with the skirt or dress pants, and white shirt. Or make it casual with a pair of jeans.

(I actually don't really like blazers/jackets but this one's decent.)

10. Sweat Suit Alternative-As mentioned before, women wear fewer skirts and dresses these days. But some women have taken casual to the extreme and spend days on end in sweatsuits. It is possible to be casual and comfortable without looking like a slob. Find a comfortable material (that's why this doesn't say jeans again – denim is not as comfortable as a nice soft cotton) that you would want to wear every day. It could be khakis, cords, a cotton dress, or much more.

I think blueberry bagels are tasty. I like them with just butter.

Unfortunately, a bagel is so big I can't eat the whole thing. Not to mention there's so much bagel there that the butter is practically invisible!

Then Mom bought Sara Lee Soft & Smooth Mini Bagels in Blueberry.

Obviously these aren't them but they are this size.

They are fabulous! Because our toaster's lever can be used to raise the inside shelf thingy I can still toast these little babies. I've had two today and they are so yummy!!

New Shirts

I bought a couple of tees from American Eagle online the other day. I'm not their hugest fan...but when you're 23 and can ONLY fit into juniors clothing...you deal. Not to mention, these are a light cotton...sooooo comfy without being lame!!

Below are the two shirts I bought. I actually have two of the pink one because I bought one in the store and then proceeded to stain it (and I refuse to wear stained clothing out of the house). It's now a pj shirt...and I'll probably think of some other way to make it more noticeably different. The blue shirt has the eagle on it but it is gorgeous. The design is just awesome! It looks really nice...so nice I could probably get away with wearing it to church! :-)

I haven't started another book. I read the two Sweep books this morning then biked to the library where I got the next two and some other books.

While out and about in the Internet world, I happened to stumble across a book I just HAVE TO have!

Weekend

So I'm trying to stay positive about this weekend?

Why?

Because I'm absolutely home alone until Monday or Tuesday.

Today I am getting Chinese delivered for lunch. (Ordering it in about 20-25 minutes)

What makes this weekend even HARDER is the fact that Nick isn't even here. He's gone all day and is home for a couple hours before he has to go to bed. So during the day it's nobody but me and our three dogs (and Nick's cat when I go next door to take care of her).

Things to do this weekend:
1. Make snickerdoodles for Nick and his crew. I thought this would be a nice thing since they're working so hard to keep the area I used to live in safe from the fires.

2. Do laundry.

3. Watch Mrs. Washington Goes to Smith finally. It's only been on the DVR thing for like weeks!

4. Watch Warehouse 13 that was also DVR'd.

5. Read...of course

6. Clean my room.

7. If I'm feeling up to it, weed Nick's garden area for him.

8. Put together the baby shower gift for the baby shower I'm going to on Sunday.

I think that's it really. Nothing big. Just trying to NOT get so bored I wanna scream. LOL!

I miss my Nicholas.

The end is in sight though. He should be home within the week...hopefully SOON!

I'm just thankful he's safe...especially since they fought some intense fires today.

But I still miss him tons.

Oh, and I spent a little money on him and bought him a nice plue polo from A.E. Hope he likes it--I think it'll look fab with his blue eyes.

No I Haven't Died...

...I've just become addicted to this game on Facebook called Farm Town. It's seriously addicting.

So what's been going on in my life?

1. VBS was last week. It was rather crazy and I've decided that next year I think I'd just like to be a floater. I really don't want to work in a specific class. LOL!

2. Nick has been gone over a week on a fire up near where I used to live in Nor-Cal. (I still live in Nor-Cal but I'm about 1 hour closer to Sac than I was 3 or 4 years ago. I moved from one small town to an even smaller small town.) I miss him bunches but he said at the latest he should be home around the 19th.

3. That being said, my mom leaves for Fresno on either the 19th (after my eye exam appointment) or 20th and Dad leaves the 21st. Mom will be home on the 24th (she thinks) and Dad will be home a little after that. So for a couple days I will be HOME ALONE! Oh No! LOL! OH, and my darling mother has already told me she'll be leaving me a little cash so I can order chinese food delivered one day. LOL! So sweet!

4. Still no job. I do have a little "interview" sorta thing (I don't know what it is!) tomorrow for the temp (60 days) work for Rite Aid. I think I just might get it because the assistant manager made sure I could make it and I have worked for them before (two summers in a row). Other than that...no options. Stupid economy!!!

5. I MISS NICK!!!!!!!!! :-D

6. I'm still working to show y'all a few pics from the last month or so (LOL!) but the last couple times I went to try, the image uploader was being mean and not loading! I'll try really hard to get them done by this weekend!

Between spending time with Nick, the computer/Blogger giving me issues and Vacation Bible School this week I've totally slacked.

I will try to post a picture post (or 2...or 3) of the flowers Nick bought me two Monday's ago (and are just now dead), pictures from my little nature I took by myself, and a picture of me holding a baby squirrel. :-)
